Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.

For a few years ABCD has been working with Days For Girls International to increase access to menstrual care for young girls in Tanzania.

In February this year Nurse Eva, the local nurse in the Marangu area, and her husband Ewald opened their home to Julius, Suzan and Lidya, from the Days for Girls Enterprise Office in Uganda. This team from Uganda was funded by ABCD Canada to deliver a 2 week training program for the 6 women of CARE ABCD Tanzania.

CARE ABCD Tanzania is the local group of women which launched last year in Marangu West aiming one day to become certified with Days for Girls International and start a business to manufacture the personal care kits for local girls and women. ABCD Canada has funded some initial start up costs such as sewing machines, fabric and working table.

The Days for Girls training program included learning how to set up and operate a small business, the standards required by Days for Girls for making the personal care kits, and soap making. In addition, Eva, Veronica, Digna, Francesca, Mary and Rose were awarded certificates as Days for Girls Ambassadors of Women’s Health. They are now prepared to speak confidently about a variety of health topics, leadership and health safety for women and girls. We are proud of these women who are turning periods into pathways towards healthier lives for the girls and women in their villages!
